A DISCUSSION ON SYSTEMATIC ERROR OF SEDIMENTARY FACIES-CONTROLLED RESERVOIR MODELING AND SUGGESTIONS

    • There are two key factors in the facies-controlled modeling, the building of conceptual reservoir model and the classification of sedimentary facies, which decide the type of heterogeneity and the model precision. In terms of principles and methodology, the sedimentary facies-controlled modelling can not exclude errors from human influence. Reservoir heterogeneity analysis shows that the traditional method of facies analysis using predominant facies has intrinsic shortages. We discussed this problem with forward modeling on the basis of qualitative depiction in this paper and the lithofacies-controlled modeling method under the framework of high resolution isochronous stratigraphy was used based on further subdivision of stratigraphic formations. The application shows that this method can help build a finer model and wipe off the systematic error introduced by the workers in the predominant facies method. The lithofacies controlled modeling method can provide a more accurate model, which is of great significance in the fine reservoir description of oil fields.
