EROSIONAL AND DEPOSITIONAL PATTERN TO THE NORTHERN OFFSHORE AREA OF THE YELLOW RIVER DELTA

  • Eight fixed profiles are studied for slope, water depth, sediment, erosion and siltation volumes in a unit width. Data shows that since the Yellow River changed its channel, both the delta front and prodelta of the CS5-CS8 profiles have been under intensive erosion, and the erosion of delta front is relatively strong in all the profiles. The sediment derived from erosion moves from the delta front to prodelta towards the northwest along the shore. The coastal particle coarsening is significant especially in the abundant estuary.
