RESERVOIR CHARACTERISTICS OF THE PALEOGENE EOC FORMATION IN BAKR-AMER OILFIELD, EGYPT

    • The study of reservoir properties is significant for searching the hydrocarbon rich region and remaining oil. The Eoc Formation of the Bakr-Amer Field, Egypt is characterized by carbonate reservoirs. Based on the research of regional structure, stratigraphy and sedimentary features, statistical and mathematical methods are adopted to study the petrophysics, reservoir space types and controlling factors. Affected by tectonic movements, the residual reservoir in the deeper part is thick, but the porosity is relatively low due to compaction, cementation and dissolution. In the upper part, however, the residual reservoir has good reservoir properties, but is thin in thickness due to weathering, leaching, dissolution and fracture growth.
