APPLICATION STATUS AND DEVELOPMENT TREND OF MARINE GEOGRAPHIC INFORMATION SYSTEM

Marine Geographic Information System, as a powerful tool to collect, store, access to, manage, analyze spatial information data and solve actual space problem, has been widely applied in many fields of marine sciences. This paper briefs the history and basic facts of MGIS, and then analyses the application status in various marine research areas as well as the problems appeared in application. The future development trend of MGIS is also discussed.
