APPLICATION OF SPECTRAL SHAPING-BIDIRECTIONAL FILTERING UNITED TECHNIQUE TO IDENTIFICATION OF SMALL AND MICRO FAULTS

    • The exploration practice of Bohai Oilfield suggests that the recognition and identification of micro-faults are critical to tectonic interpretation and discovery of large traps. The study area of this paper is located in a superimposed zone of multi-directional faults, and the quality of seismic data is rather poor, and especially the micro-fractures and the axis in-phase faults are not so clear. To solve this problem, we firstly used the rematch spectrum shaping and frequency extension technology to improve the resolution of small micro-breaks, and then used the adaptive bidirectional filtering to improve the accuracy of micro-fracture imaging. Finally, the new coherent slices are used to re-implement the structural trap, and as the result, the areas of traps are greatly increased. Drilling verification suggests that the new approach is effective for oil and gas discoveries.
