Abstract
The stratigraphic types, distribution and structural patterns of the buried hill 428 in the Bohai Sea area are studied by the authors based on the newly processed 3D seismic data, in addition to drilling cores, cuttings and other lithologic records, as well as paleontology and dating data. Exploration potential is then discussed and assessed. The results suggest that the buried hill 428 is based on Archean granite. The west of 428 shows a two-layer texture and the Archean is covered by the Mesozoic, while the east of 428 has a three-layer texture, and the Archean is overlaid with the Cambrian and the Carboniferous-Permian. The Cambrian is distributed only in the east of the buried hill. Based on the oil and gas information and stratigraphic framework from drilling holes, it is inferred that the buried hill 428 has excellent oil source conditions, and the Mesozoic and Archean strata are potential exploration targets.
