Abstract
The Mesozoic is almost completely eroded on the Laoshan Uplift of the South Yellow Sea, and there is a high-velocity shield below the Cenozoic. Therefore, the seismic wave energy is difficult to penetrate downwards. The underlying Paleozoic strata consist mainly of carbonate and clastic rocks, which are petrophysically little different, and thus the reflection coefficient is small. As the results, seismic images of the deeper Paleozoic strata are bad in quality and the signal to noise ratio is low. In order to improve the penetration of seismic wave energy and enhance the seismic imaging of the Paleozoic strata, seismic acquisition using a large airgun source and long cable have been carried out in the South Yellow Sea recently. In this paper, seismic acquisition parameters suitable for oil and gas survey of the Paleozoic strata at the Laoshan uplift are recommended upon the seismic acquisition parameters collected from recent data.
