    THE APPLICATION OF MULTI-SCALE WAVELET DECOMPOSITION TECHNIQUE IN SEISMIC INTERPRETATION

    • Resolution is the key factor that affects the accuracy of seismic interpretation. Muti-scale wavelet decomposition uses continuous wavelet transform to decompose the seismic signal into a series of a collection on different wavelet scales, it is equivalent to convert signals from time domain to the time-frequency domain due to the one-to-one relationship between the scale and frequency, and the signal is decomposed into different frequency of wavelet. Then reconstitution is made for the wavelet, whose frequency is corresponding to the target layer, to get the profile whose resolution is corresponding to the inherent frequency of the target layer. Therefore, the resolution of the profile is improved, we applied this method to the sedimentary interpretation of the Haqian block in the Alade oilfield, and better application results have been obtained in the three aspects of target horizon calibration and tracking, fault interpretation and seismic lithologic interpretation, and the accuracy of seismic interpretation is improved.
