Abstract
Spectral inversion, as a new method for seismic inversion, has well developed in recent years. It may construct the reflection coefficient profile for improving the resolution of the seismic data. We used the method in this study with both the synthetic and real seismic data. Results show that the method is efficient and may produce good results. Drilling has confirmed that there are natural gas hydrate reservoirs in the Shenhu area of South China Sea. We applied the method to the seismic data acquired from the area and produced the reflection coefficient profile, which represents the seabed stratigraphy. With the BSR in both the seismic profile and logging data, the top and bottom reflections of the natural gas hydrate reservoir were delineated in the reflection coefficient profile.
