Abstract:
Geological hazards, such as the shallow gas, shallow flow and natural gas hydrate, are the major technical challenges being confronted in the operation of deepwater drilling. Accurate prediction of deepwater shallow geological hazards will provide a scientific basis and technical support for well drilling design and construction. Based on the sub-bottom seismic data from the deepwater area of the South China Sea, we established a shallow geologic hazards prediction model in this paper. According to the characteristics of shallow gas and shallow flow, a monitoring method was proposed to monitor the geohazard during the drilling process and an on-the-spot control technology on the shallow gas and shallow flow induced geological disasters was established. The prediction, monitoring and testing methods and control techniques will protect the offshore construction from the shallow geological hardads, and provide technical support for safe construction in deepwater areas.
