Abstract:
With the rapid economic development in recent years, geo-hazards become more severe at the Dongshan Island in Fujian Province under the joint action of human activities and natural factors. The ecological environment in addition to lives and properties are under threat. For more effective planning and development, we surveyed the existing distribution of geohazards on the island, with the support of GIS technology. In terms of the types and risks, the study area could be put into three categories, i.e. high-risk area, risk area and low-risk area. A comprehensive study has been devoted to the formation mechanism of the geohazards, among which man-caused hazards dominate.
