Abstract:
It is believed that the Paleozoic and Mesozoic marine carbonate reservoir bears great hydrocarbon potential in the Southern Yellow Sea Basin (SYSB). However, due to the Large burial depth, the large thickness and the complexity of geological structure of the Mesozoic-Paleozoic, high quality seismic data are hard to be acquired using conventional seismic prospecting method, and it has become a bottleneck to the hydrocarbon exploration in this region. The authors suggest in this paper setting up a seismic prospecting system, namely the Marine Tridimensional Wide Line(MTWL)technique, which combines the advantages of the traditional land wide line technique together with the over/under streamer method, to improve the quality of seismic data so as to push forward the hydrocarbon exploration on marine carbonate reservoirs in the South Yellow Sea basin.
