Abstract:
The submarine mud volcano is a kind of geological structure, formed by huge and thick undercompacted shale rich in organic and fluid matter squeezing into the overlying strata under the action of regional dynamics, leading to the bending, uplift or piercing of overlying strata. The submarine mud volcano is also the channel for gas migration and is regarded as an important evidence of hydrate presence. According to the domestic and foreign submarine mud volcano researches, the article summarizes and analyzes the geophysical characteristics of submarine mud volcano in order to lay a foundation for submarine mud volcano investigation and identification.
