Abstract: Using the static sealing pressure method and the shale gouge ratio method, we studied the vertical and lateral sealing capability of faults based on the in the East LiaoDong area. It suggests that fault sealing is periodical temporally and segmental spatially. The function of the faults in different strike and with different features is assessed. It proves that the study of fault sealing capability is helpful for oil and gas exploration.
