Abstract:
UAV taking the place of traditional satellite remote sensing has become a hotspot in environment monitoring applications. In this study, we integrated UAV imagery and satellite remote imagery to monitor the environment of uninhabited islands. UAV remote sensing has the characteristics of high resolution, low cost, and maneuverability, while satellite remote sensing is easy access to historical archived data. We believed that the combination of the two types of data could enhance the capabilities of environmental ecological monitoring in such islands. The WorldView imagery and UAV imagery were used to obtain multi-temporal land cover details. In addition, GIS spatial data and landscape pattern indicators were quantitatively analyzed to understand the spatial-temporal changes of the island environment. Results show that the combination of UAV imagery and satellite imagery significantly improved the discernibility of land cover, which meets the acquirements in accuracy and consistency in large-scale environment monitoring.
