Abstract:
Geochemical characteristics and genesis of heavy metals (As, Cr, Cd, Cu, Hg, Pb, Ni, Zn) and fertility-related indexes such as pH, organic matter, total nitrogen, total phosphorus and total potassium in the surface soil of Guzhenkou Region, Qingdao are analyzed by the authors of this paper. Referring to the relevant specifications for land quality assessment, the soil nutrient and environmental conditions are evaluated comprehensively. Upon the basis, suggestions are proposed for readjustment of the land use plan. The results show that the elemental composition of soil is mainly controlled by parent rocks, except Hg, N and P elements, which are enriched in some regions with frequent human activities. The soil environmental quality is safe and clean (about 90%) in general. However, the soil nutrient and fertility are both poor. Compared with other heavy metals, the background value of Cu elements is higher than the standard and easy to be enriched in some areas. It is supposed to be the main factor causing soil pollution in the study area. We recommend that monitoring be carried out for both the soil and the agricultural products from the contaminated areas.
