Abstract:
The Gabon Basin is a typical Atlantic type of passive margin basin. The deep water pre-salt area of the basin has been an exploration target with both high risk and high potentiafor some time. Effected by factors such as poor quality of pre-salt seismic images, fine reservoir prediction has become a severe challenge to pre-salt exploration for a long time. Recently, a new problem concerning halite cemented reservoir prediction is encountered in the M Gas Field of Gabon deep water area. Based on our research, a specific technical assemblage called“fine halite cemented reservoir prediction technique based on genesis” was proposed. Firstly, the genetic mechanism of halite cementation is made clear on the basis of geophysical and geological analysis; Secondly, petro-physics, seismic attribute analysis, seismic forward simulation and impedance inversion are adopted to predict halite cemented reservoirs. Finely. by application of the technical assemblage, favorable reservoir distribution pattern of the M Gas Filed was effectively predicted, and under the guidence of the research result great success has achieved in exploration evaluation of the M Gas Field.
