    On pretreatment method for the determination of rare earth elements in deep sea REY-rich sediments by inductively coupled plasma-mass spectrometry

    • 摘要: 深海富稀土沉积物作为潜在的新型矿产资源,其元素赋存特征及物源指示意义成为目前研究热点。采用高压密闭酸溶、过氧化钠碱熔2种前处理方法,用电感耦合等离子体质谱仪(ICP-MS)测定稀土元素。以In和Re做内标元素,用标准物质进行了比对试验,2种方法的实测值与推荐值基本相符,测试精密度均满足测试要求;对3个深海富稀土沉积物样品进行前处理,稀土元素测试结果具有很好的一致性。从实验结果来看,密闭酸溶比过氧化钠碱熔检出限更低、基体效应更小、分析步骤更加简单,适用于大批量深海富稀土沉积物样品的测试。

       

      Abstract: The REY (Rare Earth Element and Yttrium) rich sediments from deep sea is a new potential seabed mineral resource and the REY element occurrence and the significance of provenance indication have become a research hotspot. In this study, we compared two pretreatment methods: sealed acid dissolution and sodium peroxide alkali fusion, for the determination of rare earth elements by inductively coupled plasma mass spectrometry (ICP-MS).115In and 185Re were used as internal isotopes to complement matrix effect and correct signal drift. The results of the two methods are consistent with the certified values and the standard deviations of them fall within 6%. Three samples of deep sea REY-rich sediments were pretreated by the two methods, and the REE test results are in good agreement. Therefore, the sealed acid dissolution was proved more suitable for treating a large batch of deep-sea REY-rich sediment samples due to the lower detection limit, smaller matrix effect, and simpler analysis procedure than those of the second method.
