墨西哥湾盆地北部深水前第三系成藏组合分析

    PRE-TERTIARY DEEPWATER OIL PLAYS IN THE NORTHERN GULF OF MEXICO BASIN

    • 摘要: 墨西哥湾盆地是一个中-新生代的裂谷盆地,在盆地北部深水区(美国一侧)可能存在着油气成藏下组合,具有古生新储的成藏特征。侏罗系发育了主力烃源岩,烃源岩厚度大,深水区中一半的烃源岩尚处在生油期;白垩系发育主力成藏组合,储层物性良好。整个盆地广泛发育的盐岩地层使盆地的地温梯度较低(约1.8~2.3℃/100 m),致使成藏期偏晚。据此推断,盆地北部深水区前第三系存在大量油气富集区,勘探潜力巨大,为油气勘探提供了有利的方向。

       

      Abstract: The Gulf of Mexico Basin is a rift basin during the Mesozoic-Cenozoic. Lower plays may exist in the deepwater area of the Northern Gulf of Mexico on the US side. Hydrocarbon is generated from the source rocks lower and accumulated in the reservoirs upper. The Jurassic is thick and rich in source rocks. The area up to the half depth of the basin still remains in the mature stage. The Cretaceous is the main reservoir with good physical properties. The whole basin is covered by a salt formation which keeps the basin remained in a low geothermal gradient (about 1.8~2.3℃/100 m), resulting in the delay of the critical moment of petroleum system. It is inferred that the pre-Tertiary formation contains a large amount of oil and gas in the deepwater area of the Northern Basin, and the Cretaceous of Northern Gulf of Mexico Basin is a promising exploration target with great oil and gas potential.
