Abstract:
As the transitional zone between land and sea, coastal zone is a complete environmental system.Geological survey and research work are critical important for socio-economic sustainable development and solving the contradictions among population, resources and environment in the coastal zone. With regard to the social and economic development, it is urgent to strengthen the geological work in the fields of urban planning, land use and marine functional zoning, major engineering projcts, ecological civilization construction and environmental protection, disaster prevention and mitigation, emergency management, geological resource development planning, and development of geoscience. To meet all the requirements, integrated geological survey should be implemented, and geo-environment and geo-disaster monitoring system and geologic disaster warning and emergency response center be established. Basic survey results, special products, and technological innovation are expected to solve the major geological problems and serve the government decision making processes at all levels.
